Prolegomenon Toward A Primate Rights Bill

This book is a foundation for a law that recognizes the natural rights of all primates, not just humans, based on their capacity for autonomy and suffering, and needs that are analogous to those of humans, whether or not they are classified as “persons.” It explicates a philosophical argument based on the ontological parity of all primate groups and individuals, presents several principles, and is structured as a prototype for an actual law. The work challenges our beliefs about humanism and is important to the current discussion about global sustainability and the protection of the environment. The book is supported by the Freedom4Animals Organization whose mission involves critical debate and education about the scientific, economic, moral, and philosophical dimensions of debate about the status and rights of non-human beings, especially primates.
